This week I have started to develop an idea for my graduate project.

As I wish to improve my skills in having an authorial role, I believe tasking myself with developing an idea is a great way to do so.

I have began writing notes and plot points for a short series I wish to make. Some of my notes include:

  • Characters

  • Over arching story

  • Taglines/Log lines

  • Themes

It has been exciting developing a new idea and it has been particularly interesting thinking about how I would pitch such an idea as well. It has changed the way I think about developing a series.

I also had a meeting this week where I was given advice and insight on a previous series idea in terms of its format and how it would be pitched. This has been very helpful in my thoughts on my new idea.

Finally, as I wish to develop my authorial role skills, I have also began to think about how the story would look on screen , taking a directorial approach. I wrote a short treatment for a scene which helped me imagine the camera angles and the aesthetic for the show.
