As the end of this unit is nearing its end, I have decided to once again review where my learning has taken me so far and what changes I should make to my learning agreement.
Going into this unit, I wanted to improve my skills as a director including working with actors, along with my writing and idea producing skills. At this point in time, my interest has shifted away from the Directing role and more towards the actual storytelling and production of ideas.
The seminars I have found most interesting and influential on my learning have included learning about Treatments, Pitching and general idea development. I consider these elements to stray slightly away from directing, especially on set, and more toward how to develop an idea and pitch it to a company for production.
Due to my shift in interest, I have decided to edit my Learning agreement to cater for this. I now have more clarity on what to discuss and produce for my final presentation. I have decided to challenge myself for the remaining weeks leading up to my presentation by developing a treatment for a television drama I have and then talk about it in greater detail within my presentation.
This is not to say I will completely neglect the Directing side of my interests. It is still an important part of my learning as I wish to develop skills as an authorial role.
